Meet the Author
Keisha D. Bussey has been an educator for the past 19 years and has a love and passion for dance. She is a God-fearing woman. She is a Dance Educator, Speaker, and Owner & Artistic Director of Fierce6 Elite Dance & Fitness.
Keisha D. Bussey, is a true “Valley Girl”, originally born and raised in Harlingen, Texas. Keisha has been dancing since she was in her mother’s womb. She started dancing at the Boys & Girls Club as a young girl. She was a cheerleader at Veron Jr. High, and South High School in Harlingen, Texas. Keisha later became a dance member with Harlingen High School Cardettes, but later moved to Alexandria, Louisiana where she was a member of dance drill team for the Bolton Bears Danceline and graduated from Bolton High School in Alexandria, Louisiana. She later attended the University of Louisiana in Lafayette, Louisiana known as University of Lafayette Louisiana (USL) in the dance department.
Keisha moved to Houston and attended The University of Houston - Downtown with her formal background, which includes a Bachelor of Science degree with a minor in dance and theatre. She attained her Master’s in Education and Master’s in Counseling from Prairie View A & M University.
She resides in Houston, Texas teaching dance to elementary students at Carter Academy for the Performing Arts. She has collaborated with elementary dance teachers and written dance curriculum for grade levels K-5 with Aldine I.S.D. school district. Keisha has been nominated at the 40under40 Alvin Ailey and received the award. She has also been awarded the teacher of the month award. Keisha has been featured in the World News Spotlight Blog, Empowering Women and Voyage Houston, "Houston's Most Inspiring Stories."
Keisha is a member of the Texas Dance Educator's Association (TDEA) where she is a Convention Curriculum Assistant each year. She is a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Incorporated, initiated Omicron Gamma at University of Houston Downtown, then transferred to graduate Chapter Alpha Kappa Omega Houston Area.
